karma dance

danda nata
danda nata ritual dance , popular in boudh. participants of dance devotees of god hara , goddess parvati. perform dance in month of chaitra (march–april) , vaishakha ( april–may).
dalkhai dance
the people of boudh perform dance during month of aswina ( september –october ) on occasion of bhaijuntia ( bhatri dwitya) in dance young girls stand in line or in semi-circular pattern songs known dalkhai songs.
fairs , festivals

this function observed in last friday of margasira(november–december) wherein both males , females gather in place , scold each other in filthy languages , fight each other. conception behind such function land yield crops.
ratha jatra
the ratha jatra or car festival of lord jagannath held on 2nd day of bright fortnight in month of asadha ( june–july). festival observed @ different places of boudh, festival observed in boudh town deserves special mention. during festivals, people of district wear new dresses , make delicious food. thousands of people nearby villages of district congregate @ boudh occasion. raja of boudh performs ritual in case of ratha jatra of puri. 3 deities – lord jagannath, balabhadra, , subhadra taken in car main temple mausima temple. deities stay there 7 days. during time different types melas, mina bazaar organized @ boudh large numbers of people come boudh.
laxmi puja
laxmi puja observed in hindu households on every thursday in month of margasira( november–december). hindu women celebrate festival great austerity , devotion. on thursdays, house , courtyard decorated chita or alpana designs, , laxmi, goddess of wealth , prosperity, evoked , worshipped. last thursday of month marks end of puja when rice cakes , other preparations of sweets offered goddess.
nuakhai
nuakhai agricultural festival. observed more or less in parts of district. ceremony takes place in bright fortnight of bhadraba (august–september) on auspicious day fixed astrologer. on occasion, preparations of new rice offered gods, goddesses, , ancestors, after members of family along friends , relatives partake of new rice. head of family officiates in function.
sivaratri
sivaratri festival observed in siva temples on 14th day of dark fortnight in month of phalguna ( february–march). devotees remain awake throughout night , worship lord siva. @ midnight lamp called mahadipa taken top of temple , kept burning throughout night. devotees break fast after seeing mahadipa. festival observed great pomp , splendor in siva temple of boudh town namely matengeswar, chandrachuda, mallisahi, , @ charisambhu(jagati), karadi, sarsara, dapala, bhejigora, , raniganj.
dasahara
the durga puja , dasahara festivals celebrated during bright fortnight in month of aswina ( september–october). generally, puja continues 4 days saptami dasami. images of goddess durga worshipped in few places in district of celebrations held @ boudh town , @ sakta shrine of purunakatak deserve special mention.
dasahara has special significance warrior caste. worship old weapons of war , exhibit physical feats on occasion. heroic forebears used start on fresh military expeditions during season of year.
dola jatra
dola jatra celebrated day of phagu dasami phagu purnima. in places, observed next day of phagu purnima chaitra krishna panchami. on occasion, images of radha , krishna placed in decorated biman , carried in procession accompaniment of music. @ places, bimans carrying radha-krishna images different places assemble community worship. assembly of gods called melan celebrated great pomp , show. main festival of people belonging gaura caste. worship cow , play naudi( play sticks) singing songs relating radha , krishna.

ramanavami or ramaleela celebration celebrated during month of chaitra. observed 8 30 days @ different temples of rama. dance drama in open theatre entertainment people during 7 parts of epic ramayana being played different artists on different nights. observed great pomp , shows in raghunath temple @ boudh town 18 days.it famously observed @ laxmiprasad village of boudh town. observed religious fervor @ raghunath jew temple of debgarh , in village bahira.
kailashi jatra
kailashi or kalashi jatra observed on 11th day of bright fortnight of kartika auspicious month hindu. observed in kalashi kothi ( worshipping place).the walls of kalashi kothi painted different god , goddess.a special type of musical instrument called dhunkel being played during occasion inside worshipping place. girasinga famous festival in district. observed in palas, landibandha, gandhinagar khuntbandha, chandrapur, gundulia, sarsara, samapaju, sidhapur, khaligaon, ramgad , khaliabagicha of boudh town.

three remarkable buddhist statues found in boudh indicative of fact once center of buddhist culture. 1 of statues present in boudh town. total height of image 6 ft. 9 inches of seated figure measures 4 ft. 3 inches in height , 3 ft. 10 inches knee knee. seated in bhumisparsa mudra on lotus throne 1 ft. 2 inches in height placed on pedestal 11 inches in height , 4 ft. 6 inches in breadth. whole image built in sections carved stones. attendant figures 2 gandharvas flying garlands in hands on sides of head. on whole, colossus of boudh compares favourably similar colossi @ udayagiri , lalitgiri in cuttack district. image uninscribed , beneath pedestal ancient stone pavement of original shrine. appears site of ancient buddhist monastery remains of still found.

reameshwar/ ramanath temples
a group of 3 temples of siva @ boudh town called rameswar or ramanath temples, dating 9th century ad reputed special feature. decorative motifs , plastic art of 3 temples @ boudh superior , older great lingaraj , ananta vasudeva group. 1 particular feature of ramanath temple worth particular attention. plan quite different other temples. in plan, these temples eight-rayed stars , argha-pattas of lingas similar. these magnificent temples built of red sandstone , profusely carved stated have been constructed in mid-9th century ad. temples rich texture , curved surfaces strikingly noteworthy. each of these temples stands on raised platform, , consists of cell , attached portico. minute recesses , angularities produce charming effect of light , shade , confer appearance of greater height continued cluster of vertical lines possess. archaeological survey of india has preserved temple.
jogindra villa palace
this palace of ex-ruler of boudh locally known raja batis. constructed during reign of raja jogindra dev, benevolent , generous ruler. palace picturesque , handsome building commanding fine view of mahanadi.

chari sambhu temple
the chari sambhu temple named gandharadi temple. situated near village jagati @ distance of 16 km. boudh .it renowned twin temples of nilamadhava , sidheswar. these temples constructed under patronage of bhanja rulers of khinjali mandala in 9th century ad. these 2 temples built on 1 platform similar each other. 1 on left hand dedicated siva named siddheswar , shikhara surmounted sivalinga. second dedicated vishnu, named nilamadhava , s shikhara surmounted wheel of blue chlorite. principle of construction of jaga mohans @ gandhara different of other temples. roofs built on cantilever principle , appears have been supported on twelve large pillars arranged hollow square.
thus each side had 4 pillars of central ones flanked opening. these 2 jagamohanas appear have been open on sides; later on, lintels on sides appear have given away , became necessary fill in gaps between pillars exception of 4 openings ashlar masonry. @ same time, side openings filled jali or lattice of blue chlorite towards bottom , frieze of 4 miniature temple shikhara on it. arrangement not followed in later temples ingress of light jagamohana through 4 or 5 stone pillars in opening used window bars.
the style of ornamentation in jagamohans of gandharadi temples altogether different. stylized chaitya-windows seen @ gandharadi except @ bases of pilasters of vimana. ornamentation on these 2 jagamohans simple , less overcrowded. importance of gandharadi temples lies in fact provide link , important one, in chain of evolution, in chain of evolution of medieval orissa temple type.

purunakatak, 30 km boudh on boudh-bhubaneswar road, trading center of importance. goddess bhairabi presiding deity of boudh district. temple has beautiful entrance. durga puja festival observed here 16 days. opposite bhairabi temple temple of maheswar mahadev. 1 inspection bungalow in nearby staying.

padmatola sanctuary , satakosia gorge
the district rich in wildlife resources. padmatola sanctuary in district can approached charichhak, 43 km. east on bhubaneswar –balangir road , fair weather road daspalla. distance of place boudh town 80 km.
