the two-track northeast corridor mainline embankment expanded 3 tracks mile on each side of station , 4 tracks through station itself, allowing amtrak , nonstop njt trains pass stopped trains. two-track bergen county line re-aligned southwestward next two-track main line pass through station on four-track lower level. construction required bodies hudson county burial grounds disinterred , moved cemetery.
the station built little public parking, njt believed few passenger trips originate @ transfer point. in 2005, exit 15x on adjacent new jersey turnpike opened provide easier access station surrounding area. 2 years later, 15x least-used interchange on turnpike, due in part lack of parking @ station. on june 1, 2009, edison parkfast, private company, opened first parking lot near station, space 1,094 cars. bicycle parking available.
on july 26, 2009, nj transit began frequent shuttle service meadowlands station @ meadowlands sports complex, station being transfer point passengers new york city , other areas in new jersey. since 2009, secaucus junction serves trains coming metro-north s new haven line connecting trains football games @ meadowlands. service runs 1 train in each direction new york giants , new york jets games 1:00 p.m. kickoffs on sundays.
on february 2, 2014, amtrak trains made stops @ secaucus passengers going super bowl xlviii.
