1960
gujarat state created on 1 may 1960 out of 17 northern districts of bombay state when split on linguistic basis (also creating marathi speaking maharashtra).
they follow : ahmedabad, amreli, banaskantha, bharuch, bhavnagar, dang, jamnagar, junagadh, kheda, kachchh, mehsana, panchmahal, rajkot, sabarkantha, surat, surendranagar , vadodara.
1964
in 1964 gandhinagar formed parts of ahmedabad , mehsana
1966
in 1966 valsad split surat.
1997
on 2 october 1997, 5 new districts created:
anand split kheda;
dahod split panchmahal;
narmada split bharuch , parts of vadodara;
navsari split valsad;
porbandar split junagadh.
2000
in 2000 patan district formed parts of banaskantha , mehsana.
2007
on 2 october 2007, tapi split surat, state s 26th district.
2013
on 15 august 2013, 7 new districts created:
aravalli split sabarkantha.
botad created parts of ahmedabad , bhavanagar districts.
chhota udaipur split vadodara district.
devbhoomi dwarka split jamnagar.
mahisagar created parts of kheda , panchmahal;
morbi created parts of rajkot, surendranagar , jamnagar districts.
gir somnath split junagadh.
