midway between village of ovid , hamlet of romulus, 2 routes split, allowing ny 414 continue due north seneca falls. ny 96, meanwhile, turns northwest, following eastern edge of seneca army depot of distance romulus hamlet. south of community s center, ny 96 separates depot grounds , continues north through hamlet , town of varick. route uneventfully crosses town, passing open fields on predominantly northward alignment on way fayette town line , junction ny 336, east–west connector between ny 96a , ny 414. ny 96 continues across rural terrain outskirts of village of waterloo, number of homes rises route enters village on fayette street.
