the hub of merseytram system loop around liverpool city centre. designed constructed in 2 stages (simultaneous line 1 , line two), loop have covered major transport hubs (liverpool lime street, mainline services; moorfields merseyrail network; paradise street interchange city bus services; , pier head mersey ferry services). other destinations included kings dock arena , conference centre, main shopping centre (including liverpool 1 retail development) , tourist attractions such st. george s hall, tate liverpool, albert dock , world museum , walker art gallery.

line one

line 1 leave city centre loop @ monument place , head in north east direction along london road , via royal liverpool university hospital west derby road , out west derby , croxteth, terminating @ kirkby; distance of 11 miles (18 km).

line two

line two, intended open in 2008, leave city centre loop @ lime street , head east prescot , whiston, via paradise street, knotty ash , page moss.

line three

line 3 have terminated @ liverpool john lennon airport via liverpool south parkway , may have used running alongside edge hill runcorn line.
