denorfia first reached major leagues reds in 2005 in september roster expansion. appeared in 49 games cincinnati in 2006, moving , forth between big league club , triple-a louisville bats. denorfia had tommy john surgery on right elbow in march 2007 after tearing ligament during exhibition game.


oakland athletics

on april 27, 2007, traded oakland athletics marcus mcbeth, ben jukich, , cash. missed entire 2007 season result of surgery, returned in 2008, making oakland s opening day roster. denorfia played center , left field before being placed on disabled list tightness in may. rehabbed triple-a sacramento river cats , did not return major league team until september. finished year batting .290 in 62 at-bats.

on december 16, 2009, denorfia signed minor league contract san diego padres , received invitation spring training. denorfia started 2010 in padres system, playing outfield triple-a portland beavers. called on may 17 replace injured scott hairston. pinch hit same night, hitting single. denorfia remained big league club rest of season, batting .271 9 home runs in 284 at-bats , starting 44 games in center field, 15 in left , 13 in right. on august 5, hit unusual inside-the-park home run in dodger stadium. ball chopped off dirt cut-out in front of batter s box 4 or 5 feet in front of denorfia , bounced out of reach of third baseman before being misplayed alongside tarp down left field line. sabr investigated possibility play had set record least distance travelled through air home run ball.

chicago cubs

denorfia signed one-year contract worth guaranteed $2.6 million plus $400k in incentives chicago cubs on january 9, 2015.

on january 13, 2017, denorfia signed minor league deal rockies. released on may 29, 2017.
