the high-rise building constructed between 1916 , 1919, , 1 of detroit s oldest; designed smith, hinchman & grylls in gothic revival architectural style. stands @ 14 floors, , has 65 residential units.


the building named after richard h. fyfe, detroit merchant made fortune in shoe trade. many years had fyfe shoe store @ retail street level , offices in upper stories; @ time of opening, shoe store largest in country. building used residential building, has retail , bar @ street level.


the building demolished in mid-1990s make way parking comerica park.
