the unit reactivated 461st bombardment group, light , assigned 461st bombardment wing. equipped world war ii era b-26b invader light bombers. aircraft assignment temporary until unit received jet-powered martin b-57 canberras , moved permanent base @ blytheville afb, arkansas. after 3 years of service b-57s group inactivated @ beginning of 1958 tac reorganized under dual deputy system , squadrons transferred directly wing.
