History Arkansas Highway 19
highway 19 1 of original state highways, designated in 1926. route began us 79 crosses louisiana state line, , ran north along present-day us 79 magnolia. upon designation, highway continued north prescott via waldo , rosston, along today s alignment of us 371 between communities. in prescott, route began short overlap highway 24 northwest before splitting , terminating @ highway 26 in delight. 1929, highway 19 truncated highway 26 in prescott , between may 1934 , april 1935, highway 19 replaced us 79 louisiana magnolia. between 1938 , 1939, northern terminus extended north original terminus in prescott, , southern terminus extended along route s current alignment louisiana state line along former highway 3.
upon completion of narrows dam in 1951, paved road built structure murfreesboro, not designated state highway. 1953, road had received highway 19 designation carries today. fact highway 26 formerly served northern terminus possibly explains why highway 26, not highway 19, primary route delight murfreesboro despite being lower number.
