the hempfield black knight marching band, under direction of adam gumble, consists of on 115 members. symphonic band grades 10-12. concert band 50+ performance group accepts levels of musicians grades, , designed 9th graders adapt them more challenging material , style played in band. 2012-2013 band selected perform @ pmea all-state conference. jazz band hosts variety of shows during year, , jazz lab band performs jazz band during spring jazz concert. of bands @ hempfield supervised department chair of music, dr. alan mudrick.
hempfield home several choral groups: hempfield singers, bel cantos, concert choir, , chamber singers. under direction of dr. alan mudrick. hempfield singers high level choir open audition. bel cantos female-choir, selected through audition. concert choir larger group open student. hempfield chamber singers elite group includes small number of singers. 2012-2013 group performed @ state conference. chamber singers perform national anthem @ many of hempfield s home basketball games.
the hempfield orchestras include symphony strings, orchestra tailored advanced musicians; , concert strings, performing orchestra designed underclassmen.
all orchestras, bands , choirs perform @ either holiday concert, winter concert or spring concert. groups have shows outside of hempfield music department, change every year.
