hall s younger brother chad won 2006 foot locker national cross country championships, de facto national championship high school cross country individual runners. chad following in sister-in-law s footsteps, sara hall (née bei) won girl s championships in 2000, same year ryan himself finished 3rd. chad attended university of oregon. in 2008, chad transferred university of california, riverside , graduated in 2012.
