all-women shortlists method of affirmative action has been used labour party increase representation of women in parliament. of 2015, 117 labour mps have been elected house of commons after being selected candidates through all-women shortlist. in 2002 method of selection ruled breach sex discrimination act 1975. in response ruling sex discrimination (election candidates) act 2002 legalised all-women short lists method of selection. equality act 2010 extends exemption discrimination law 2030.
