born in paris, studied under jacques-françois blondel, germain boffrand , jean-laurent le geay, whom learned mainstream french classical architecture in 17th , 18th century , neoclassicism evolved after mid century. elected académie royale d architecture in 1762 , became chief architect frederick ii of prussia, largely honorary title. designed number of private houses 1762 1778, though of these no longer exist; notable survivors modern era include hôtel de brunoy (demolished in 1930) , hôtel alexandre, both in paris. work françois racine de monville has apparently vanished probable influence on monville s own architectural works seen @ désert de retz speaks itself. claude nicolas ledoux 1 of influential figures of french neoclassical architecture.
