uthman obtained manuscript of quran hafsah , again summoned leading authority, zayd ibn thabit, , other companions make copies of it. zayd put in charge of task. style of arabic dialect used of quraish tribe. hence style emphasized on others.

zaid , other companions prepared between 5 , 7 copies. 1 of these sent every muslim province order other quranic materials, whether fragmentary or complete copies, burnt. when standard copies made , available muslim community everywhere, other material burnt voluntarily muslim communities themselves. important in order eliminate variations or differences in dialect standard text of quran. caliph uthman kept copy himself , returned original manuscript hafsah.
