the distinguished service medal (an bonn seirbhíse dearscna) second highest award of defence forces. awarded individual acts of bravery, courage, leadership, resource or devotion duty while serving defence forces, below level meriting award of military medal gallantry. established in 1964, awarded in 3 classes honour, distinction, or merit.
the conduct medal (an bonn dea-iompair) award presented non-commissioned officers , privates. awarded between 16 september 1987 , 30 january 1990, recognised individual meritorious service , exemplary conduct.
the service medal (an bonn seirbhíse) awarded non-commissioned officers , privates after 10 years of service , after 15 years of service officers. @ 15 years of service non-commissioned officers awarded medal same ribbon officers medal bar. @ 20 years, officers awarded bar medal well.
the service medal (ldf , nsr) (an bonn seirbhíse (fcÁ agus sm)) awarded members of local defence force or naval service reserve complete @ least 7 years of service. @ 12 years medal awarded different ribbon , medal bar, while @ 21 years second bar 21 inscribed in centre awarded.
the emergency service medal (an bonn seirbhíse Éigeandála) established in 1944 recognise service during emergency. medal awarded @ least 365 days of either continuous or cumulative service between 3 september 1939 , 31 march 1946. awarded 2 different types of ribbons, recognised 11 groups service during emergency, reverse of medal indicating group under recipient served.
the united nations peacekeepers medal (an bonn chosantóirí síochána na náisiún aontaithe) awarded members of defence forces have served overseas on united nation mission or united nations mandated mission. created in 1989, no more 1 medal may awarded person.
the military star (an réalt míleata) can awarded posthumously members of permanent defence forces killed or fatally wounded direct result of hostile action or act perpetrated enemy, opposing armed force, hostile belligerent or other party, involving use of firepower or other lethal weapon. qualifying service outside ireland on military duty overseas.
the international operational service medal (irish: bonn nua Óglaigh na hÉireann um sheirbhís oibríochta idirnáisiúnta) awarded members of defence forces have served overseas on mission no other medal has been awarded.
