on april 19, 2007, film koizora green-lit , directed tbs director natsuki imai. imai s previous works included television dramas orange days , taiyou no uta, , koizora first experience directing film.

as koizora film loosely adapted original cell phone novel, changes made film fit 129 minutes. in original novel, way mika , hiro met different. initially, mika s phone number given nozomu, repeatedly called her dismay. however, 1 night, when drunk dialing mika, hiro confiscated phone , began talking instead.

the filming koizora began on april 23, 2007 , scheduled finish in june 2007.

the soundtrack composed shin kouno , released on october 31, 2007, harbor records. along background music, 2 theme songs promoted alongside movie. mr. children s tabidachi no uta (旅立ちの唄, tabidachi no uta) ending theme song of movie. yui aragaki herself penned , sang heavenly days , insert song of film.
