robert smith had given lillie £10,000 , moiety or half part of trade on marriage valentina in c. 1746; , left him in 50 shares in sun fire office. smith had acquired share of sun fire office on 24 august 1720 (dickson, page 271).

lillie smith aynscombe director of sun fire office from, @ latest, 1754 until death in 1791. around 1750 bought , rebuilt hermitage, st. leonard s hill, clewer, windsor, , lived there 1773 when sold duke of gloucester renamed sophia farm. site formed part of windsor safari park , today within legoland. when lillie aynscombe died in 1791 scots magazine, (vol. 53, p. 102), reported thus:

he left 3 daughters (all died sine prole (d.s.p.)):
valentina aynscombe (c. 1749 – 23 march 1841 (gm 556), aged 92), of cromwell house, mortlake. on death gentleman s magazine described remaining daughter of late lillie smith aynscombe of st. leonard s hill, berks . in 1828 donated £100 towards establishment of king s college, london. (old) cromwell house demolished in 1857, though gate piers remain (down aynscombe lane). controversial bristol benefactor , slave-dealer edward colston died there in 1721.
mary aynscombe (died 1828) married rev. john mossop (1774–1849), vicar of hothfield in kent 1802 1849. mossop remarried, 1 august 1843, , had 2 children: john henry mossop , mary aynscombe mossop. (john henry mossop captain of boats (rowing) @ eton in 1865, , in oppidan wall , field xis of 1864. after christ church, oxford lived @ 50 charles street, berkeley square).
