mycological characteristics








inocybe salicis mushrooms have tawny yellowish-brown caps of between 1 , 2.5 centimetres (0.4 , 1.0 in) in diameter. surface can cracked, covered in fibres or scaly. caps change in shape mushrooms mature; while younger specimens have campanulate (bell-shaped) conical caps, caps of older specimens expand , flatten, broad umbo emerging. cap cuticle forms cutis. gills free, meaning connect stem, , pale grey, becoming ochre-grey (or brownish) age. stem has white honey-coloured surface entirely covered in powdery granules. stem 1.5 3.5 centimetres (0.6 1.4 in) long 0.4 1 centimetre (0.2 0.4 in) thick. there well-defined bulb @ base of stem. white flesh smells spermatic, scent not distinctive.


microscopic characteristics

inocybe salicis produces spores of 9 11 6 8 micrometers (μm). in shape, elongated or curved, covered 10 15 distinctive blunt, semi-circular projections. cystidia on face , edge of gills measure 50 70 12 25 μm cell wall 2 3 μm thick, , either taper @ each end, or shaped swollen bottles, cheilocystidia (cystidia on gill edge) more variable. circumcystidia (cystidia on margin of cap) club- or balloon-shaped, , caulocystidia can found way down stem.
