david wicks, played michael french, appears between 1993 , 1996. returns on 1 january 2012, departure storyline of mother pat butcher (pam st. clement), , departs again on 13 january 2012. in september 2011, rumoured david , simon wicks (nick berry) return eastenders pat s departure storyline. sun reported producers working french , berry on board. bbc spokesperson declined comment on report, saying there has been lot of speculation surrounding pat s departure, not going comment on rumours @ stage don t want spoil storyline viewers. on 13 november 2011, confirmed french reprising role david after absence of 15 years. in soap awards 2012, michael french won best comeback award brief return david wicks. confirmed in july 2013 david return eastenders later in year. david returned in september 2013, in may 2014 (eight months after return), french announced leave show again. david left show on 30 may 2014, following breakdown of relationship carol jackson (lindsey coulson).
