previously, marcus alexander bagwell had been working on tag team called american males, alongside scotty riggs. scott norton, having seen tag team fire , ice (with ice train) break up, had been doing little.

on april 22, 1998 episode of wcw thunder, bagwell severely injured flying bulldog off top rope rick steiner. bagwell injured, team quietly dropped. norton spend rest of wcw career winning squash matches in lower midcard, while bagwell, once recovered, moved on team scott steiner.
