New building 5 World Trade Center

5 world trade center (5 wtc) expected designed residential or mixed use in original master plan complex daniel libeskind. building have height limit of no more 900 feet (270 m) , 1,500,000 square feet (140,000 m) of floor space. negotiations on world trade center site concluded in april 2006, private developer larry silverstein yielding right develop on site designated 1 world trade center along 5 world trade center port authority of new york , new jersey in exchange assistance in financing towers 2, 3, , 4.

the deutsche bank building began undergoing deconstruction in march 2007, completed 2011. during time, work along liberty street involved preparing northern quadrant of site development. after site preparation work done, construction began on vehicular security center , liberty park, both complete of 2016.

on june 22, 2007, port authority announced jpmorgan chase spend $290 million lease site until 2011 construction of 42-story building. jpmorgan chase out of deal, leaving port authority no plans build skyscraper.

following jpmorgan chase s acquisition of bear stearns in march 2008, company announced plans use bear stearns existing headquarters @ 383 madison avenue new headquarters j.p. morgan investment bank. company abandoned plans occupy skyscraper @ 130 liberty street. proposal convert planned office tower residential or mixed-use tower explored instead.

on may 1, 2008, deconstruction of former deutsche bank building resumed.

on may 11, 2009, announced port authority proposing cancel construction of 5 world trade center altogether part of overall plan halve amount of office space available in reconstructed world trade center 465,000 square metres (5,010,000 sq ft). agency, citing recession , disagreements developer larry silverstein, proposed reduction of 200 greenwich street , 175 greenwich street stump buildings of approximately four-stories. proposed in july 2009 move planned construction site performing arts center 130 liberty street location, these plans later rejected. performing arts center planned constructed near center of world trade center site part of national september 11 memorial & museum. @ location, construction not begin until 2015. proposal did not specify whether performing arts center occupy entire site, thereby ending plans 5 world trade center, or if center become integrated new mixed-use skyscraper on site.

on march 25, 2010, port authority announced had assumed responsibility development of 5 world trade center, in addition 1 world trade center, national september 11 memorial & museum, transportation hub, , other site infrastructure. towers 2, 3, , 4 continue developed silverstein properties. on june 15, 2010, new york university had expressed interest in expanding 5 world trade center part of nyu 2031 program. these plans rejected.

on february 28, 2011, deconstruction of deutsche bank building completed, , construction of world trade center project, vehicular security center , tour bus parking facilities began. development of site officially given port authority of new york , new jersey. on september 1, 2011, port authority of new york , new jersey began construction incorporate site new wtc development, acting developer.

on october 14, 2011, governor andrew cuomo announced agreement rebuild st. nicholas greek orthodox church in liberty park. church located adjacent future liberty park, built on top of vehicular security center.

on december 9, 2011, phase 2 construction of south bathtub, located on site of 130 liberty street, continued excavation , concrete placement. 2012, concrete placement , steel erection of south bathtub continued.

by may 10, 2013, ground prepared construction. walkway next site of 5 wtc, constructed supermarket. 2014, ground had been transformed parking spaces vehicles belonging port authority police department (papd). according agency, usage of site temporary.

design

the original design tower kohn pedersen fox. called 42-story building seven-floor catilevered section starting @ 12th floor. section of building have housed jpmorgan chase s large trading floors, rising above new st. nicholas greek orthodox church. tower taller 7 world trade center. of september 2013, lmdc/port authority actively marketing site, had not released information building @ all. includes building s redesign, or if has been redesigned.
