line 10 measures 11.712 kilometres (7.277 mi) across 23 stations , 1 ghost station, croix-rouge, closed in 1939. route entirely underground.










list of stations

beginning @ western terminus of line 10, first train leaves station porte d auteuil heads towards terminus of gare d austerlitz. @ time, passengers may ride on turn-around track, closed passengers rest of day. siel, système d information en ligne, gives passengers on platforms time-to-arrival of next 2 trains, , has been operational since 1 july 2008.


at terminus boulogne – pont de saint-cloud (rhin et danube), because of proximity seine, there no tracks behind station allow train reverse directions. instead, trains received alternately on each side of platform , leave directly in opposite direction. due narrowness of rue du château, under line 10 passes, stations boulogne – pont de saint-cloud (rhin et danube) , boulogne – jean jaurès have 1 central platform used both directions. after last station, tracks run 1,600 metres (0.99 mi) reconnect trains auteuil. tracks 1 (towards austerlitz) must successively pass under boulevard périphérique, followed platforms connections auteuil , murat before ascending service station michel – ange – molitor. in order achieve this, ramps reaching descent of 40‰ grade used. tracks 2 (towards boulogne) separated loop on level of avenue du général-sarrail bend , slope of 40‰.


the loop auteuil situated in neighborhood of auteuil: tracks 1 , 3 of loop border central platform of miche-ange – molitor. afterwards, pass under rails of line 9, until combining @ arrival chardon-lagache unique platform. finally, tracks 1 reach station mirabeau , go towards austerlitz.


tracks 2, coming austerlitz, follow peculiar profile , not service station mirabeau, instead crossing behind sharp ramp due great depth of line after traversing seine. furthermore, in order reach station Église d auteuil, tracks must climb higher close station s foundation. following this, tracks 2 of line pass behind tracks of line 9 , arrive @ station michel-ange – auteuil, has central platform surrounded tracks 2 , tracks h coming connection line 9. arriving @ porte d auteuil, tracks separate form complexity of tracks head towards boulougne, maintenance station, murat, or towards michel-ange – molitor.

after station mirabeau, line crosses seine via underwater tunnel , reaches station javel – andré citroën way of 40‰ ramp after passing under tracks of line c of rer. following this, line follows avenue Émile-zola arrive @ stations charles michels , avenue Émile zola before joining rue du commerce. when line reaches station la motte-picquet – grenelle, 2 tracks separate: tracks 1 situated in half-station platform 1 of line 8 , tracks 2 service half station without tracks 2 of line 8 situated below. before arriving @ station ségur, line passes under rapp intake. services stations duroc, vaneau , sèvres – babylone. line continues eastward , passes through vacant station croix-rouge, closed on 2 september 1939. finally, line arrives @ mabillon.


beginning @ odéon route of line 10 becomes complixed must pass intersection line 4. 2 tracks part in order yield passage connection tracks arrive in middle of circulation tracks , level off @ station cluny – la sorbonne. connection tracks rejoin other tracks of line 10 before station maubert – mutualité. same principle in effect connection line 7 these double tracks pass under tracks of line 10 before station cardinal lemoine. when route reaches station jussieu, lines 7 , 10 follow parallel routes allows platforms of 2 lines side-by-side. finally, line follows bends in both direction under jardin des plantes arrive @ terminus, gare d austerlitz. arrival situated under arrivals hall of train station, , turn-around loop under railroad tracks. cul-de-sac peculiar in sense configured receive underwater passing coming gare de paris-lyon.


split section of line 10

line 10 has separate eastbound , westbound sections between stations of boulogne – jean jaurès (west) , javel – andré citroën. both sections run side-by-side between javel – andré citroën , mirabeau, mirabeau station served eastbound trains. westbound trains pass through mirabeau on inclined ramp behind eastbound tracks.
















the separate sections once part of loop returned westgoing trains javel – andré citroën. after porte d auteuil (last station on westbound section) trains turned round michel-ange – molitor (first station on eastbound section). when line extended jean jaurès , boulogne section no longer operated loop.


porte d auteuil connected porte de saint-cloud of line 9. connection called voie murat , passes ghost station porte molitor. station meant spectators leaving parc des princes football stadium, plans changed , access station streets never constructed. westbound trains on line 10 (terminating @ porte d auteuil) can re-routed line 9, starting eastbound @ porte de saint-cloud via voie murat connection. option used after events @ parc des princes when line 9 used unusually many people.


renamed stations

five stations on line 10 have changed names of course of years:



la motte-picquet became la motte-picquet – grenelle in november 1913;
wilhem became Église d auteuil on 15 may 1921;
beaugrenelle became charles michels on 14 july 1945;
gare d orléans – austerlitz became gare d austerlitz in 1979;
cluny became cluny – la sorbonne on 17 february 1988.

some stations on line decorated particular cultural theme in mind:


the station javel – andré citroën presents life , enterprise of andré citroën use of placards , photographs. seats of station use colors of celebrated logo composed of chevrons, inspired gears constructed in 1905. these decorations removed during 2000s in light renovation project renouveau du métro .


the halls used connections in station la motte-picquet – grenelle decorated various coats of arms of toussaint-guillaume picquet de la motte family (blue 3 golden chevrons, accompanied 3 silver arrowheads). fresco represents barrière de la cunette, 1 of doors of wall of farmers-general 1 situated station now.


the station sèvres – babylone contains exposition of ecology, showcases on recycling, renewable energy or water consumption , electricity consumption in world. in 2008, these windows renovated signs giving specific information on initiatives of grenelle environnement.

with line 9 via voie murat , depots located southwest of station porte d auteuil on tracks of old entrance no longer used in commercial service;
with line 9 @ entrance station michel-ange – auteuil, on tracks in direction of boulogne; intersection runs alongside platform of station michel-ange – auteuil, edge of platform being protected fencing, , intersects @ terminus.
with line 8 @ entrance station la motte-picquet – grenelle, on tracks heading towards boulogne;
a tunnel without intersection exists towards line 13, between stations of duroc , vaneau; dates old route of line 10 towards invalides;
with line 4 via dead end in east of station odéon, intersecting in actuality @ east of station cluny – la sorbonne after having traveled center of station without bordering platform; intersection occurs between 2 tracks of line 10 @ station cluny – la sorbonne 3 tracks form combined 2 of line 10;
with line 7 @ exit of station maubert – mutualité in direction of gare d austerlitz; two-track connection, used commercially between 1930 , 1931, separated line 10 strong slope between 2 rails.

trains on line 10 serviced depots @ auteuil, connected tracks of terminus porte d auteuil. these depots entirely underground; other tunnels, escalator located on sidewalk of avenue du géneral-sarrail provides access. depots connected line 9 well, line 9 has not used these depots since opening of @ boulogne connected pont de sèvres.


both heavy , regular (batteries, tune-ups, , repainting) maintenance of trains of line 10, other trains on rail network, takes place @ depot @ choisy. opened in 1931, situated in 8th arrondissement of paris, close boulevard périphérique , accessible via junction on line 7. composed of 2 distinct sections: maintenance workshop trains of line 7 (amt), , workshop changing composition of trains on network. depot occupies total of 34,350 square metres (0.01326 sq mi). 330 agents employed @ depot in 2007.
