as part of electrification of north coast line between brisbane , rockhampton, 8 kilometre eastern deviation bypassed station, new gympie north station opening on 4 february 1989. gympie relegated freight depot, closing in 1995. on 9 november 1998, line gympie north station gympie station closed @ point 300 metres north of station.
