the first ground of team placed in centre of thessaloniki, nearby white tower. construction funded members of g.s. iraklis, but, after thessaloniki became part of greece, club ousted owned ground, park created in place. in 1915, iraklis rented area in centre of thessaloniki ten years period, club unable use facilities until 1919, due world war i. in 1927 club renewed contract use of area, in 1930, newly founded aristotle university of thessaloniki tried take ownership of field. 2 decades ground used both athletes of iraklis , students of university, until in 1950s university managed ownership of ground, demolish construct square, nowadays known platia chimiou.

on 6 november 1960 iraklis played first match in kaftanzoglio stadium, record 2–1 win against m.g.s.s. thermaikos thessalonikis. kaftanzoglio has been home ground of iraklis ever since, including 2011–12 season, when both g.s. iraklis , a.e.p. iraklis team used home ground. in 2002–03 , 2003–04 seasons iraklis used makedonikos stadium home ground. decision made due renovation of kaftanzoglio 2004 summer olympics. iraklis owns football ground , training facilities in the, adjacent kaftanzoglio stadium, chortatzides area, juveniles of club train. there plans iraklis construct new 22,000 seat stadium, in club owned area in eastern extremities of city, in mikra.
