the chimney thought oldest surviving mining industry chimney in queensland, being among first built. stands 13.8 metres (45 ft) high, although descriptions reported height of 66 feet (20 m). constructed local bluestone, clamped iron, , held lime , sand mortar. firebricks lining furnace , chimney made quality local fireclay.


the chimney stands close smelter , entry point of smelter flue, collapsed, can seen @ 180cm western face of chimney.

the ore mine taken shaft dug mountain approximately 1 mile away. mine has arched roof , no uprights, , believed mimic style used miners cornwall.


the mine entrance rediscovered , opened in 1980s , more exploratory work done intermittently on next several years, although no commercial operations ever took place. has since been resealed safety.
