the season began mixed results. series of home wins , away defeats reminiscent of previous season s frustration. convincing win in basque derby exception during disappointing period. in november, club suffered copa del rey defeat away segunda división side córdoba. followed league defeat @ home against 19th-ranked team espanyol. match still in play, fans @ stadium called montanier s resignation.

early in 2012, real sociedad filed lawsuit against mediapro on grounds payments not in time or incomplete. escalated legal case won real sociedad. media group told pay had been established in contract , €7 million compensation. real sociedad in addition declared free sign broadcasting contract whoever wanted to. weeks before start of new season real sociedad agreed 3-year deal canal +. mediapro appealed decision , in may provincial court declared infringement not serious enough justify €7 million compensation. real sociedad had refund amount.
