she born on 2 february 1878 @ lahill in largo, fife. daughter of major robert rintoul , wife margaret jeffrey, daughter of john jeffrey of balsusney house in kirkcaldy. grandfather, died before born, botanist, john jeffrey.

with baxter strong supporter of women s rural institute in scotland. in second world war helped organise women s land army in fife.

in 1951 elected fellow of royal society of edinburgh. proposers james ritchie, alexander peacock, john berry , sir maurice yonge. baxter serrved joint president of scottish ornithologists club.

she died @ balsusney in upper largo on 22 may 1953 , buried parents within abandoned church @ newburn, fife, popular spot romantically sited burials.

she never married , had no children.
