early work

after absence london stage 18 years, in 2006 co-starred patrick malahide in christopher hampton s stage adaptation of sándor márai s novel embers @ duke of york s theatre.


he made national theatre debut playing former british prime minister harold macmillan (1957–1963) in never good, new play howard brenton opened @ lyttelton on 19 march 2008. in 2009, irons appeared on broadway opposite joan allen in play impressionism. play ran through 10 may 2009 @ gerald schoenfeld theater.
