jaite top junior in both spain , argentina. joined argentina s davis cup team. began playing on atp tour in 1983, , ranked among top 20 players in world. reached quarterfinals in competition @ french open in 1985, defeating paolo canè, trevor allan, miloslav mečíř , heinz günthardt before losing ivan lendl. in may 1986 @ forest hills jaite defeated world no. 4 boris becker 6–2, 7–6.

in may 1987, jaite beat world no. 9 henri leconte 7–6, 7–6 in germany. in september 1987, jaite upset world no. 3 mats wilander 7–6, 6–4, 4–6, 0–6, 6–4 win competition in barcelona, spain.

in april 1989, upset world no. 8 jakob hlasek 6–4, 6–1 in monte carlo.

jaite became sixth south american ranked in top 10 in atp computer rankings, reaching no. 10 in 1990. in may 1990, defeated world np. 2 stefan edberg 3–6, 6–2, 6–4 in germany.

jaite defeated world no. 4 guy forget 6–2, 6–2 in april 1991 in france, , again in july, 7–6(5), 7–5, in gstaad, switzerland.
